Hi there.

Potty training has a way of bringing out the best and worst of you.

We’ve been working with Baby C since last Saturday, that’s about 7 total days, and he’s really starting to get it. However, in that time, I feel like it’s been ages. Time doesn’t mean anything when you’re up before the sunrise to grab your kid for a potty break and their nap times are shorter and waking them up twice in the middle of the night to go for breaks and you wonder where all the time has gone and it’s only Sunday.

The points is, it’s been a hard week.

I wanted something positive to look forward to, something to recharge the spirit.

And that’s writing. It’s always writing. I want to be a good father, and a good husband but as they say, you need to put on your mask before helping others put theirs on.

PROJECT UPDATE:

#AMQUERYING – I think I’m nearing the end of trying to query Project GREY in its current state. It’s almost to 35 rejections, a big checkpoint. I wrote the bones to this story nearly 5 years ago. I like to think I’ve grown as a writer since then. Might be time for a complete rewrite, from the ground up. I love the characters, the message, and what the story means to me, so it’s something I need to consider.

BIANCA – In the 4th draft, nearing the end. Can only do about 10 pages of edits a day, as I only have an hour at a time to work. Can’t help but think how fast I could move through drafts, no matter what stage (1st, 2nd, and so on) were I allowed more than one hour a day…

CLOUD – One chapter down, on pause until BIANCA is finished.

CURRENTLY LISTENING: I am not entirely positive if I like this revamped version of a show I didn’t care for, even as a kid, however I am obsessed with the sick riff the Newton Brothers play at the beginning of the song and how it blends in to the Marvel Animation stinger in the beginning.

CURRENTLY READING: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan

I am enjoying the heck out of this. A lot, actually. It’s like slipping into a pair of shoes you’ve worn all year after being forced to wear nothing but dress shoes for months on end. Percy and the crew go on quests. Lots of them. And I suddenly realize how much I enjoy Riordan’s writing when he’s writing a character that’s not continually the absolute worst (looking at you, Apollo).
