Hello and good morning.

We’re in a sort of good groove, with the New Normal, that life is taking me in right now. The alarm goes off at 5am. I get in the shower, praying the sound of water doesn’t wake up any of the boys who have crawled into bed with me overnight. I moved the Nespresso machine from downstairs to the little desk we keep bedside. Clean espresso cup. Filled water bottle. Laptop. Notebooks.

Then we get to work.

My wife isn’t always home now, taking care of her mother near 24/7, so to keep the twins and Baby C in bed, sleeping, my presence is needed. I swear, I don’t know what sensing power levels in Dragon Ball Z is really like, but I imagine my sons all possess that power in regard to knowing whether or not I’m in the room.

PROJECT UPDATE:

CLOUD – Finally giving this one the real start it deserves. After a failed beginning for NaNoWriMo, I decided to take a step back, work on the outline a little more, think about what I want the story to BE, and now I’m ready to start.

You know, after hiding from it for nearly four months.

I decided to handwrite this one, trying to channel that Akira Toriyama pen energy as it were, and according to the title page of the notebook I’m writing it in I started this draft on 3.18.2024. Fear is a real thing in writing, but it’s either fear or death, I guess.

I also started chapter 2 wrong. Chapter 1 was in the 1st Person POV, while I started Chapter 2 with the 3rd Person POV. This book will have alternating narrators, the main characters, and I didn’t immediately hate this style once I learned of my mistake. After a quick Google/Soul search, I’ve decided I’m keeping it. Who knows? It could help me stand out once I start querying this thing. If I reach that stage, that is.

#AMQUERYING – Pitched Project NESS over the weekend. Found an agent on the spreadsheet I marked but never submitted to. Going to do that again this weekend. Still waiting on one full manuscript request, but we’ve passed the 10 month mark. Not sure if I’ll be hearing from this one anymore. That’s okay. The writing life is messy and sometimes people make mistakes or forget or just don’t have time. You have to learn to roll with it and get back to the keyboard or notebook and write the next thing.

Also, need to get Project GREY back and going, but that means I need to connect with the work. Understand what I’m trying to sell. So I’ll look over the pitch doc and the manuscript itself for about twenty minutes to re-associate myself with it before sending that one out, too.

CURRENTLY LISTENING: This is such an underrated soundtrack. If you enjoy early 00s techno, that is. Oakenfold is a master at blending all these genres under one roof to help keep it cohesive.

CURRENTLY READING:Still nothing yet. Need to choose a book and get started.

A picture of the Magic the Gathering card, Head of the Homestead, featuring a bunny parent standing the doorway with its children all around it, with the ability to create two rabbit tokens when it enters.
I’m a Magic the Gathering card, I guess.
