Hi.

I am the sick.

Turns out when you send your kids to preschool, they bring preschool back to you.

PROJECT UPDATE:

CLOUD – Project CLOUD is going through a bit of a switch-up right now. Initially, I started writing this MG contemporary fantasy back in November of ’23, hoping it would be my NaNoWriMo book. I made it about 4,000 words in before life made it too difficult to continue and I felt the story needed more. (Leon just died just before this.)

My thought to fix was to take this from the screen to the page. This story, its essence, was inspired by the work of Akira Toriyama, who also passed away in the time of this story’s development, so I thought writing it out by hand was the right call. Keep it within an established structure. Each chapter is roughly six pages, three front-to-back, nearing 1,000 words each. 5 segments of 10 chapters, plus an epilogue, ends up being 51,000 words. Part 1 of an intended duology.

Made it about here…

However, life just isn’t that right now.

Call it anxiety, self-induced pressure, whatever, but I am not working fast enough. Developing in a notebook is one thing. Writing out, by hand, in a notebook is different. It takes time, patience, and that’s not what I have.

The truth is I can type faster than I can handwrite, meaning that hour and a half I have every morning is not being used to the most optimal. So, no longer handwriting. Typing. This also ties back in to what I did with my Bullet Journal system, in an effort to keep it simple, write more, think about process less.

#AMQUERYING -Sent out a GREY query yesterday. Trying to take it to 35 rejections before I take it out of rotation and decide it does, in fact, need to be reworked. Found an agent for NESS. Going to send that out in the next two days.

CURRENTLY LISTENING: WrestleTalk Podcast

Love these guys. I only follow AEW now, as WWE burned me out and is doing nothing of interest to me. AEW is running their biggest show of the year in London at Wembley Stadium, on Sunday and should be a brilliant show.

CURRENTLY READING: My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi

Finished reading up to volume 27, the last volume I’ve bought. I think they’re up to volume 39? And the series, as a whole, which just finished publication a few weeks, will end with volume 42? That’s crazy. I can’t imagine what’s coming next. I’ll get back to it but switching up to a prose novel in the meantime.

A collection of the My Hero Academia books up to volume 27 with a figurine of Bakugo in front.
Bakugo says, “Get back to work, dweeb!”

Thanks for reading,
