Okay, back into the swing of things, blogging and writing and creating every day. June took a lot out of me, creatively speaking. It’s difficult observing the communities and people within those communities, who were considered leaders, be tested and revealed for what they were. Because of this, I’ve decided to delay Project: TWILIGHT for now. I might come back to the story someday, as I truly believe in the message of the story, but I drew way too much inspiration from a tainted and broken community. It’s hard to write when all you can think about is the rotten core this story plant sprouted from.

I need to evaluate it, so for now, it’s shelved.

However, I came across this Magic the Gathering card and it gave me the exact motivation I needed.

Strange, right?

We’re writer because we want to tell stories. So, don’t let anyone stop you from doing that. Do the Great Work.

Project: GREY is still being sent out to agents for consideration. I’ve received a few more passes, but we keep trying.

As for Project: NESS, my middle-grade fantasy set in modern day south Tucson? That’s getting a bit of a reset.

I originally meant to write it all of June, with a finish date of June 30, but, you know, the world falling apart morethan ever, Arizona COVID cases spiking, the writing and comic community imploding, rebuilding, and revealing some truly terrible people, and, oh yeah, twins.

It was not a good month, mentally.

BUT.

It’s July, meaning Camp NaNoWriMo is kicking off.

Camp NaNoWriMo is your next, great writing adventure. Every April and July, set your own creative goal, work on any writing project… and do it with friends.

I’ve talked a ton about National Novel Writing Month, so I won’t go into too much detail here, but if you want to write anything at all I suggest you check them out. I’ve moved Project: NESS from being due June 30 to being due July 31. You can follow my progress, if you so like, here.

I guess we’re all humans, and we move on. Be your own hero.

Happy July!
