Hello and Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Or, if you’re in the know, Happy Anniversary to House Trinacostadad. Yes, eight years ago my wife agreed to marry me and we entered into the coolest life anyone had ever known from now until forevermore.

This wasn’t our wedding day. We were but wee babes at this time. Still, it’s getting harder to find photos of just the two of us.

She’s out playing Irish fiddle today, because that’s who she is. Usually, that means we always have something to do on our anniversary. The last few years we’ve even taken the boys to her shows when age-appropriate (no late night pubs or anything like that), but today, with the kind of year we’ve been having, we all needed a short break, so she’s playing, I’m writing, and we’ll celebrate tomorrow.

PROJECT UPDATE:

#AMQUERYING – Had an odd realization this past week. One of those “Slap your head you’re so stupid” realizations, where I figured out that I’ve been doing this work ALL WRONG. Pitching, querying, sending my completed stuff to agents (of which I have two completed manuscripts, NESS and BIANCA) should be the priority. How else am I supposed to become a Published Author unless I, you know, publish something? And the only way to do that is to send stuff out. The swimming shark mentality is important, and I should always be writing and working on the next thing, but I have two books in the spear quiver. I should be using them more.

CITY – As stated above, working through the first draft for my next book will take a bit of a backseat to querying more regularly. I think a rotating schedule is the most helpful/effective way to work. I can get about 5 straight days of 5:30am workdays and I think three of those should be spent querying, whereas two can be spent working on this draft. I’m in no rush. This isn’t NaNoWriMo (nor will it ever be again). Take your time and hurry up.

CURRENTLY LISTENING: Sometimes, you just need some dark synthwave to help you through your work session.

CURRENTLY READING:

Kwame Crashes the Underworld by Craig Kofi Farmer (B&N) is, right now, a very enjoyable read. It’s definitely in the mental bank I keep of “Books I’d Recommend to Students Were I In the Classroom.” A fun opening, so let’s see how it finishes up.
