Hello and good morning.
March is nearing it’s end, and I’m struggling to think about what I’ve accomplished.
Yesterday was the end of a very long string of gigs April played in, not to mention the end of Spring Break, and the end of a long stretch of family birthdays and important appointments. No. There hasn’t been a lot of writing this month. A shamefully low amount of writing.
Also, my desk is covered in cat hair so I guess Lily is having a tough time, too.
So yesterday afternoon, for whatever reason, I enlisted the help of Dante to help me create some Doom Wings for his Shadow the Hedgehog doll. Taken from the new Sonic x Shadow: Generations game, we grabbed a Honey Nut Cheerios box, I cut them out, Dante colored them in, and using some twine to make a backpack, we created a harness to slip on and off.
I can’t always be sat at my desk, writing from sun up to sun down, taking breaks to go for walks, peacefully, thinking, in quiet. Sometimes I need to break out the gymnastics mats and wrestle three kids, or play Sonic x Shadow: Generations on the Nintendo Switch because we still haven’t found all 80 missing gears to help these two goofy robots escape the white void of space. And when I can’t write, I can’t feel artistic.

I busted out a sketchbook and started doodling in it. An old Quattro one I bought, I believe, nearly ten years ago when April and I first got together. I don’t think there’s anything worth sharing in it yet (Then again, isn’t that how all artists feel?) but it’s been keeping my hands warmed-up and my mind moving. That’s how I used to do my story plotting. Drawing. Trying to find anything to keep the river flowing is what’s key.
PROJECT UPDATE:
#AMQUERYING – Today, I’m queuing up projects NESS and BIANCA to pitch out, to one agent each. Last week I decided to change how I work. Instead of spending my days always writing the next thing, I should take stock in the fact that I’ve WRITTEN TWO BOOKS ALREADY AND MAYBE I SHOULD PROBABLY SORT OF MAYBE BE QUERYING THOSE TO AGENTS ON THE REG. It’s a subtle change, but one I think that’ll make a big difference. (Also, I’m an idiot for not thinking that way sooner.) So three days a week, we pitch. Two days a week, we write.
CITY – Haven’t added on any new words since last week. So still around the 700 words mark. Going to get back into it this week, hopefully cross the 2,000 word mark. Taking my time with this one.
CURRENTLY LISTENING: Told you. It’s been a Shadow-heavy week here in House Trinacostadad.
CURRENTLY READING: Dandadan Volume 4 by Yukinobu Tatsu (B&N)
I started this series not that long ago, immediately fell in love with it after two volumes, took a break, picked up the next two volumes, then stopped what I was reading previously to finish them. Now I’m trying to hold back from impulse buying the next eight…

Thanks for reading,
