Hangman Page is the man.
AEW All In Texas was a stellar show and everyone involved should be proud of themselves. Professional wrestling, while still often frowned on as “low class entertainment,” has really ascended in many aspects to embrace the things only pro-wrestling can do. To follow Adam Page’s story to this moment, being crowned champion in front of 30k people, is a five year commitment with swerves, emotion, and, finally, victory. Something we storytellers could learn from.
And that’s why I took the weekend off.
Had to take one of the boys to the dentist on Friday to get some work done, then had to do some post-dental work nurturing at home. Saturday was the wrestling show, and we had some friends and their kids over. Wild fun time for everyone and I screamed till I was hoarse and felt woozy standing up when Hangman won.
Sunday was recovery day.
So I’m working on finding my way back into the groove. Thankfully, I buried myself so deep in the groove last week, working on the Revise & Resubmit, that it’s not taking as long to figure out how to work again.
I’d still like to cut down this time from “standing still” to “moving with pen in hand,” especially if I can see a big weekend full of things that take me away from the notebook. Need to figure out a system…
PROJECT UPDATE:
NESS – We’re summarizing the chapters of the book onto note cards to see how the action flows. One of the main notes from the literary agent was the pacing, and that there was too often a scene of intense action and drama, but I didn’t immediately follow up on it. I need to analyze the chapter flow and the best way I think I can do that is looking at it from afar, like from a helicopter, to see where the pauses are, erase them, and speed the book up. So. Note cards. One chapter at a time.
#AMQUERYING – Haven’t sent out BIANCA in a while. Same goes for NESS. Between family vacation and, now, this R&R, I’m a little front loaded. Which is good. I want that. But in the case that this R&R doesn’t lead to anything substantial, I need to be always on the hunt. “Move like a shark,” right? I’ll start looking for more agents to pitch this week.
CITY – This one is on me. Again, the R&R is taking up a lot of my forward thinking time, so I can’t quite process writing the New Book. Maybe once I’m out of the honeymoon phase of this work I can circle back around to this.
CURRENTLY LISTENING: Paul Oakenfold is a genius and no I won’t be taking any questions at this time.
CURRENTLY READING: Still making my way through Morrison and co.’s Final Crisis. While the weekend’s festivities slowed my progress, I have gone back and reread chapters, making sure I’m catching what Morrison is putting out, and not letting a single piece of this brilliant piece slip by. Will move on within a day or two.

Thanks for reading,
