STATUS – 05.21.2026 –

Hello and good afternoon.

Today was the last day of kindergarten. My twin boys are officially, technically, 1st graders. Those of you who have been readers for over six years now might be surprised to hear that news, and it might make you look at your own hands, as I did this morning, and witness them withering away into gray dust, blown away by the hot morning desert wind.

I promise you. No one is as surprised as myself.

A friend of mine also has a child who just finished up in kindy this year. We’ve known each other since high sc hool, so to realize our kids are now on that same path…

it’s cliché, but it’s true.

Primarily dealing with that, right now.

PROJECT UPDATE:

NESS R&R – The Revise and Resubmit for Project NESS is going along swimmingly. After taking that several month break to…*checks notes*…have a baby and begin raising it, I’ve fallen fully back into the editing groove. Honestly, there’s only about 3,000 words to do for this rewrite. The outlinining, the pacing, all that, had already been done months ago just before the school year began. But then it became baby prep time, then it became baby time, and I’m learning to forgive myself for that. There’s not much left to do but to do it. Just keep repeating that in my head.

Today: It’s reworking the beginning of Chapter 11 to more closely align with the brand new Chapter 10, and then continue onward with the intervening chapters to smooth things out before hitting the next big rewrite: Chapters 19 and 20.

CITY – Still on pause, but always on my mind.

CURRENTLY LISTENING:

I’m not going to admit how long it took me to figure out that Bandcamp has an “embed on WordPress” option, but all you need to know is that it’s there, it works, and this is what I’m doing now every month with the money I would have spent on Spotfiy.

I bought this several months ago, went on a bit of serious reading hiatus, and then woke up one day and decided that books were my life and I especially need to study the MG ones to see what the already-published do and her we are. About 50 pages in and loving the charm.
