The New, New, Old System

Okay, let’s talk about notebooks.

I was gifted this Traveler’s Notebook several years ago by my sister-in-law for our family Secret Santa. I wasn’t sure what I was going to use it for, but I felt like I could make something out of it. I think in my mind I had read somewhere that Julian Simpson used traveler’s notebooks for his Morning Pages and maybe I thought I would give that a try?

I started and stopped using it a few times, but never could muster up the idea, the driving force, behind, “What good would this serve?”

Well, then I got signed. Then suddenly all of this writing stuff became super, duper, uper serious.

I always had the LOCHBY Pocket with me carrying a slew of smaller notebooks for different things (this blog, any projects I might be working on, a Commonplace notebook, etc.), but still nothing for this one.

And then my water bottle exploded. Or, I should say, I forgot to close it up properly, and my Bullet Journal I carried with me all the time got drenched. The work inside was still legible and I saved everything I could from it, but, yeah, it was too far gone.

This left me with a few options of how to make the Bullet Journaling last until the end of the year.

So I decided on one.

We only had four more months left in the year when I made the switch, so I figured I could dedicate one notebook to each month and have some freedom to move throughout the entire journal without worrying too much about space. Turns out, I enjoy writing in a notebook without lines. Call it a holdover from my college days when I had a sketchbook with me everywhere.

Keeping it simple. Index and monthly planner in the front (the Pilot G-2 07 is blocking out some important info for that week), then a Statement (or what I hope to get out of this month) and a Future Log (used for anything that has to be done for the month, like a goal tracker).

And that’s it. The back holds credit cards, membership cards, and any business cards I snag. We were just at Tucson Comic Con and I got quite a few there.
