I took my computer into the shop this week. The mouse wasn’t working after I spilled coffee on it near the beginning of quarantine. Only now did I fee safe enough to take it in.

So, Hello Pocket Blogs! For the uninitiated, those are blogs written on my phone. Short. Quick. Uncomplicated.

I’m only using a particular kind of notebook now. I did an experiment with the new Field Notes Heavy Duty edition they just sent out, writing on the couch, on the floor, in the playpen, in the nursery rocking chair, and I’ve been able to do more writing in the last five days than I have in the last few weeks.

Nothing serious. Daily task lists, article starters, blog drafts, story bits…okay, perhaps more than a bit. It’s so easy to write on something that folds over on itself, acts as its own desk, and is tough and durable.

I’m not sure if anyone of you have tried to write with two 10 month old boys trying to snatch the pen and notebook out of your hands but it’s not as easy as you think. Which probably wasn’t that easy to start with, so it’s even less easy than that.

The Field Notes ones are the Reporter, Steno, and Heavy Duty edition. There’s a MUJI brand spiral one in there, but the rest are from our trip overseas nearly two years ago. The wooden covered one was from a post office in Vietnam. The white Gundam one is from the largest Gundam shop in Tokyo. Finally, the Pokémon ones are from the main Pokémon Center store in Japan.

Let’s get writing. If something isn’t working, change it.
